Being in the flow
We all know the feeling of being in the flow, when we are completely absorbed in an activity, so that we forget space and time around us and things seem to run by themselves. It feels easy, coherent. We are completely with ourselves, connected with our inner essence. We block out the outside world, are highly concentrated, productive. We really enjoy what we do. It feels good.
When feeling, thinking and acting are one, we become completely absorbed in the work and enter the flow.
Birth is instinctive
It’s the same with birth. In fact, birth is an instinctive, physical process in which our body and baby do the work by themselves. We just have to let them, get out of the way, trust and surrender to the natural birth flow, the elemental force that works through us.
When we are in the flow, we instinctively know what to do or not to do in the here and now. It might just help to lie down, to sleep, to rest. Maybe it feels right to stand, to walk, to circle the pelvis, to change position. Maybe right now it helps to sound out loud. Maybe you’d rather focus quietly on what’s happening. Maybe breathing and visualization exercises will help you, maybe you don’t need that.
Trust your intuition
Trust your maternal intuition more than anything else to tell you how you and your baby are doing and what you need right now.
Induction, examinations, painkillers, medications, interventions, forcing into a certain birth position, forced pushing, hasty weaning and removal of the newborn, forced placental birth – all this and more should not happen without your consent.
You alone are the one who gives birth, you are the expert on your birth. Therefore, don’t let others impose anything on you from the outside that doesn’t feel right for you and that prevents your individual birth flow.
Once upon a time, we women gave birth easily and quickly, usually alone and undisturbed, just as other mammals still do today.
Birth is not dangerous and complicated, but something natural and manageable, of which we don’t need to be scared.
Dorothea Sutor
If we have fears, that is also perfectly okay. They want to be looked at, understood and resolved. This is one of the things I help you with in my course. Together we optimally prepare you, so that you can give birth self-determined in love, peace and trust.
Go with the Birth Flow
Instead of forcing, you’ll trust in the natural process and will go with the birth flow.
