One of the things we work with in mental preparation for birth is inner imagery. Because our thoughts, inner beliefs and images create our experiences.

Deep relaxation, breathing and visualization are important tools to support birth. Your body and baby instinctively know how birth works and usually do their job very well on their own.

You support your body by meeting each contraction like a wave. The wave comes, builds, peaks and recedes. Pause in between to rest. Instead of letting it roll over you, you can surf on it, go with it. Your breath becomes your surfboard.

Your body creates the waves to make room for your child to be born. Each wave brings you closer to your child. And the more effectively you breathe, surrender, relax and visualize how your cervix opens, the easier and smoother your body can work and give birth to your child.
